+How do I install the camera?
Installing the Coho 4G AI camera is easy to do yourself and usually takes 15–30 minutes. The system is plug-and-play and works step by step:
1. Registration – Register the camera online. You need an active Coho subscription (monthly cancellable). Without a subscription the camera will not work, as the built-in 4G SIM and app are activated via this subscription. Once registered, the SIM activates automatically and you immediately receive the login details for the free Coho app.
2. Mounting – Attach the camera with the included Stable Kit or use one of the other kits (Mobile Kit or Trailer Kit). The stable holder screws to the wall with four screws; the other kits secure with zip ties. The camera clicks firmly into any holder and releases just as easily.
3. Power connection – Plug the camera into mains power with the supplied adapter and cable, or use a power bank for mobile use. The camera switches on automatically and is ready to use. From then on you can watch live via the Coho app and receive notifications.
Within half an hour your camera is installed and you’ll receive live images and alerts in the app.
+Can I install the camera myself?
Yes. You can install the Coho camera yourself; no technical knowledge is required. Thanks to the plug-and-play design, installation takes only 15–30 minutes. No technician needed.
+What do I need to get started?
Nothing extra besides the camera and a Coho subscription. The standard package contains everything you need: the Coho camera, holder, safe 12V adapter, extension cable, and built-in 4G SIM card. No separate SIM, router, or Wi-Fi required. Plug in the camera, activate your subscription, and watch live via the free Coho app. For mobile use at shows or on the road, you can optionally purchase a Mobile Kit or Trailer Kit for simple, safe use with a power bank.
+Do I need Wi-Fi / internet?
No. The Coho horse camera doesn’t need Wi-Fi or a fixed internet connection. It works via a built-in 4G SIM card already installed in the camera. The IoT SIM automatically selects the strongest network at your location. You can therefore use the camera anywhere with 4G coverage, even in remote stables. No separate SIM or data plan to manage: connectivity and monthly data are included in the (mandatory) Coho subscription.
+Where can I use the camera?
The Coho camera is very versatile. Use it in the stable, in the trailer during transport, or at temporary locations such as competitions. Thanks to the wireless design (4G + power bank), it even works without Wi-Fi and in remote places. Mounting options are available for each environment, so you can position the camera stably and film your horse from the right angle. In short: in the stable, on the road, or under a shelter, Coho provides reliable monitoring everywhere.
+Can I easily take it with me?
Yes. Coho is designed to be flexible. With a single click you can release the camera from its holder and attach it somewhere else – ideal if you use it at night in the stable and want to take it to a show during the day. The optional Mobile Kit or Trailer Kit provides a portable holder to mount the camera wherever you want. There’s space for a power bank, enabling use where there’s no mains power. Coho is never tied to one place: keep an eye on your horse anywhere, anytime.
+How do I power it: mains or battery?
Two options: mains power (220V) using the supplied adapter and cable which convert to 12V for safety in a stable environment; or a power bank via 5V USB, useful where there’s no outlet, e.g. in a trailer or temporarily at competitions.
+How long does a power bank last?
Runtime depends on usage, but expect about 24 hours of continuous operation with a fully charged power bank.
For convenience we recommend two power banks of at least 20,000 mAh (5V output): charge one while the other powers the camera and switch once every 24 hours.
For mobile use there are dedicated kits:
• Mobile Kit – robust holder with space for a power bank; stable-safe cabling. Ideal in temporary boxes, under a shelter, or at shows.
• Trailer Kit – designed for transport: vibration-resistant holder for fixed or temporary mounting, with power bank space and required cables. Stable images even on the road.
No router or Wi-Fi needed: the built-in 4G SIM lets the camera work immediately once powered.
+Is the camera waterproof?
The housing is weather-resistant but not 100% waterproof. For outdoor use, place the camera under a roof or shelter. In practice it works perfectly in the stable or covered areas; avoid direct rain exposure.
+Does it work at a boarding stable?
Yes. The Coho camera works fully independently via the built-in 4G SIM – no Wi-Fi needed. Ideal for boarding stables or temporary locations (competitions, training centers). You only need mains power or a power bank. It’s compact and easy to mount and move. Display the included warning sign and ask the location owner for permission if needed.
+What accessories are available?
Coho offers several accessories and kits for optimal use:
• Stable Kit (included): sturdy holder for stable mounting, screws and plugs included, adapter with extension cable, and required warning sign. The camera clips in/out easily. Buy an extra Stable Kit to use the same camera in multiple boxes without moving everything.
• Mobile Kit: flexible hanging holder (e.g. with zip ties), ideal for temporary boxes or under a shelter. Space for a power bank for fully wireless use. Fixings and warning sign included (power bank not included).
• Trailer Kit: designed for transport. Vibration-resistant mounting, fixed or temporary in the trailer. Space for a power bank, fixings included (power bank not included). Also lets you monitor temperature during the journey.
• Door sensor: wireless sensor for stable or trailer doors. Instant notification when a door opens/closes. Up to two sensors per camera.
+Can I use multiple cameras?
Yes. In the Coho app you can add multiple cameras to monitor several horses or spaces at the same time. Each camera needs its own 4G connection and active subscription. In the app you can view all streams and alerts and switch easily between boxes.
+Can I manage multiple horses?
Yes. You can link multiple Coho cameras to the same account in the app. Name cameras by horse or location to quickly find what you need. Each camera has its own subscription (4G connection + AI service). Suitable for owners with several horses as well as yards with many boxes.
+Multiple horses in one view?
It’s possible, but the AI cannot yet distinguish each horse individually within one image. Analysis may switch between horses, reducing alert and statistics reliability. For precise alerts and insights per horse, we recommend one camera per horse. The camera still works perfectly as a 4G camera to view multiple horses in one frame, with all standard features mentioned.
+What if 4G goes down?
If 4G coverage is temporarily interrupted, the camera can’t send images or alerts. As soon as coverage returns, the connection restores automatically. No settings need to be changed; in most areas the IoT SIM automatically selects the strongest network.

+How does the AI work?
Coho uses advanced AI designed specifically for horses. The camera continuously analyzes images and recognizes posture and movement: standing, lying (sternal or lateral), frequency and duration, blanket present, etc. Developed with scientists and veterinarians for reliable, practical detection. In case of anomalies (e.g. signs of colic, prolonged lying that may precede foaling), you receive an immediate alert. Real-time statistics are visible in the app (current posture, human presence) for instant insight without having to watch the live stream.
+Does it work at night?
Yes. Infrared night vision activates automatically when light levels drop, delivering clear images in darkness. Ideal for monitoring rest, pregnant mares, or horses in recovery. Excellent image quality day and night.
+How is this different from a standard camera?
A regular camera only streams images – you must constantly check yourself. Coho 4G AI recognizes posture and movement automatically and alerts you to anomalies (prolonged lying, restlessness), possible signs of colic, stress, or imminent foaling. Plus: plug-and-play setup in < 30 min, mains and power-bank use (mobile), built-in 4G IoT SIM (European coverage, best network auto-selection, data included), temperature monitoring, 3-month logbook, day/night timelapses, night vision, door-sensor alerts (accessory), and clear AI statistics. In short: more than a camera – a proactive system that helps prevent problems and watches 24/7.
+Can I watch live?
Yes. The Coho app keeps you connected to your horse.
• Live: stream live video on your smartphone. Depending on your plan, a number of live-viewing hours are included (2.5h in Standard, 5h in Premium). Need more? Purchase extra minutes on the product page.
• Alerts with photos/videos: outside of live view you receive notifications for important events (horse lying too long, door opened, etc.), often with photos and short automatic clips. You can also take your own photos and videos without limit.
• Trailer Mode: when in transport (or very close by), activate Trailer Mode to watch continuously without using your monthly allowance (connection via the camera’s Wi-Fi hotspot). Note: your phone has no other internet while connected.
+Can I zoom?
Yes. In the Coho app, pinch to zoom on live or recorded videos (digital zoom). There’s no motorized optics, but the sharp wide-angle image lets you get close to useful details directly on your phone.
+Can I watch from anywhere?
Yes, worldwide via the free Coho app. Distance doesn’t matter: the connection runs via the built-in 4G SIM, not your Wi-Fi. As long as there’s 4G coverage, you can access your camera from home, work, on the road, or abroad.
+What is the field of view?
The Coho camera has a 120° wide-angle view – much wider than most standard cameras (~90°). You can see the entire box or trailer, including corners. This wide angle is also crucial for the AI, which “sees” your horse wherever it is. Result: no blind spots, fewer cameras needed, full visibility.
+Does it work abroad?
Yes. The built-in IoT SIM automatically selects the strongest network available. When traveling (e.g. competitions abroad), it switches to the best local 4G provider without any settings.
+Can it be used without AI?
Yes. The Coho camera also functions as a full 4G camera without enabling AI: live view, door-sensor alerts, night vision, temperature, and logbook. AI is built-in by default, but you decide whether to enable it.
+Can I use it as a security camera?
Yes. Besides horse monitoring, Coho serves as a security system for the stable. The AI also detects human presence. With the optional wireless door sensor you receive alerts when someone enters a box or opens a door. The included warning sign acts as a theft deterrent.
Health, Welfare & Safety
+Can I leave my horse overnight with peace of mind?
Yes. Coho offers 24/7 peace of mind: night vision to see in the dark and automatic AI alerts for anomalies (frequent posture changes, prolonged lying) that may indicate health issues or imminent foaling. Security alerts (human/horse presence, door open/close) complete the picture. No need to watch all night: you’re notified immediately if something’s wrong.
+Does Coho help detect colic?
Yes. Coho’s AI can detect signs of colic (restlessness, frequent standing/lying alternation, very prolonged lying) and alert you immediately. Every minute counts: you can call the vet or check in person before the situation escalates.
+Is it suitable for foaling?
Yes. Widely used for pregnant mares, Coho records restlessness (lying, getting up, walking) late in gestation and lets you watch live, including at night. For optimal security, combine with a foaling detector (e.g. Birth Alarm) for the start alert, while Coho provides vision and post-birth monitoring (mare’s rest and foal nursing).
+Is it useful for rehabilitation?
Yes. Over longer periods, AI statistics and the logbook show how long your horse rests, moves, or lies down. Valuable insights to objectively track recovery (enough rest? too much activity?) without being present all day.
+Does Coho improve stable security?
Yes. Coho immediately alerts you to risky situations (intrusion, escaped horse). With optional door sensors you also receive door-movement alerts. Alerts are configurable (time windows, pause). The included warning sign helps prevent theft and unwanted behavior.
+Is the camera horse-friendly?
Yes. No wearables on the horse; observation is at a distance. Safe mounting, compact rounded housing, discreet in the stable. Infrared night vision without bright light. No harmful directed emissions: the built-in 4G works like a phone. Coho runs on low voltage (12V) via the supplied adapter (220V → 12V) for extra safety. Customer feedback confirms horses are not disturbed and keep their routine. Non-invasive monitoring, 24/7.
+Does Coho provide behavioral insights?
Yes. The AI continuously tracks posture and activity, with graphs (24h/3-day) in the app. You see how long your horse stood, moved, or lay (sternal/lateral).
• Welfare: more lying than usual, or very frequent alternation? Possible signs of colic, pain, or stress.
• Performance: for sport horses, visibility into quality of rest (REM), useful before competition.
• Rehabilitation: objectively track progress (sufficient rest or increasing activity).
+Why monitor REM sleep?
Sleep reveals what the horse can’t say. Studies show horses only achieve REM sleep when lying laterally. REM is essential (recovery, immunity, learning, performance). Insufficient or restless sleep increases stress, fatigue, and vulnerability. Tracking sleep lets you act early (box comfort, temperature, onset of health issues). Changes in lying (too long or incessant alternation) are early signals of colic, pain, or stress. Coho’s sleep/lying insights are therefore key to welfare and health.

+Can I switch plans easily?
Yes. It’s a flexible monthly subscription: upgrade to Premium (more live hours, HD) and switch back to Standard whenever you like.
+Is there a trial period?
Yes. There’s a legal 14-day right of withdrawal: install, test, and see if Coho suits you. If not, cancel within 14 days for a full refund. Statutory product warranty also applies (see Service & Warranty FAQ).
Data & Privacy
+Are my data private?
Yes. Coho takes privacy and security seriously. All images and data are encrypted and stored in a secure cloud. Your data are only accessible to you (and those you grant access). AI uses anonymized data to improve performance; your videos are never used without consent. In case of a technical issue, our support team can, with your permission, view technical data and if necessary images to resolve the problem.
+How long are images stored?
All data are stored automatically in the secure logbook of the Coho app.
• Retention: view images, alerts, and timelapses for up to 3 months, after which they are overwritten automatically.
• Timelapse: compact daily summaries (≈ 1 minute). Retained for 3 months.
• Personal backup: easily download/share important moments (birth, incident) to keep them permanently on your device or cloud. No SD cards or complex management needed.
+GDPR compliance / warning sign?
Yes, if you follow the provided guidance. In most countries, displaying a “video surveillance” sign is mandatory, even on private property; Coho supplies a sign to place at the entrance. Your recordings fall under personal use (as long as you don’t publish them). Coho stores data encrypted, access limited to you (or authorized persons), and processes only as described in our terms.
+Can I share images with my vet/trainer?
Yes. Via the Coho app:
• Built-in sharing: send a summary of the last 3 days (timelapses, AI charts). Useful for remote follow-up (colic, performance prep).
• Manual sharing: save photos/videos, take screenshots of graphs, and send them (WhatsApp, email, etc.).
You stay in control: nothing is shared without your action.
